"A True Story". Mark Twain and Aunt Rachel, the cook at Quarry Farm, were sitting on the farmhouse porch early one summer evening sometime around the 1870's, when he happened to ask her is she'd had any troouble during her life of 60 years.
Ethel Stroman becomes Aunt Rachel, as Mark Twain, (Gary Wilson), writes down her life story.

Historic Near Westside supports local and regional tourism, historic districts, sites, museums, and events of the greater Western New York Finger Lakes Region. Including Western New York State, New York City, Northern Tier of Pennsylvania, and all states beyond and Canada. The HistoricNearWestside.com of Elmira, New York mission is to research, preserve, and share Elmira's rich heritage in a manner that honors the past, builds a bridge between generations, and leaves a legacy for the future.

active advocacy, participation in community planning, innovative educational programs, the preservation of properties.
Purpose
of the www.HistoricNearWestside.com is to serve its community. It does that through efforts to beautify the neighborhood; to encourage historic preservation and property maintenance; to promote appropriate business development, to fight crime, and to protect and enhance Elmira's unique urban ambiance.
Goals
The HistoricNearWestside.com of Elmira-goals are outlined below:
- Collect and document the history of Elmira utilizing oral, written, and visual mediums.
- Develop historical publications for the purpose of promotion, preservation, and education.
- Participate in cooperative efforts with other organizations to establish a heritage mission.
